The difference compared to a usual plug is the progressive attenuation:

• Low protection in quiet ( 4dB to 80dB of noise),
• Moderate attenuation in medium noise ( 24dB to 100dB),
• Strong attenuation in high noise ( 39dB to 120dB),
• All noises remain clear and precise, but are compressed to a comfortable and harmless level,
• Advantage Mk4: Increased attenuation on high frequencies (the most risky).

Alvis Mk 4, advantages :

• Reinforced attenuation on high frequencies: + 4 dB of attenuation compared to the Mk3, i.e. a little more than double.
